Drug & alcohol testing
Drug and alcohol testing for family court and beyond
Lab-based testing with chain of custody, reported to the attorney, for custody, divorce, protective orders and criminal matters.
Choose the right test
| Test | What it shows | Often used for |
|---|---|---|
| Urine drug test | Recent use, about 1 to 4 days for most drugs (longer for regular marijuana use) | Custody hearings, pretrial and random testing |
| Hair drug test | A pattern of use over roughly the last 90 days | Custody evaluations, history of use |
| Nail drug test | Use over a longer window, when there isn’t enough hair | Custody cases where hair isn’t available |
| EtG alcohol test (urine) | Drinking in about the last 1 to 3 days | Sobriety conditions, visitation |
| PEth alcohol test (blood) | Drinking over about the last 2 to 4 weeks | Showing a pattern of heavy or regular drinking |

How collection works
- The person brings a government photo ID and is identified by the collector
- Samples are sealed and signed for under chain of custody, then sent to an accredited laboratory
- Observed urine collections are available when a court requires them
- Results go to the ordering firm only, through the attorney portal
Ongoing and random testing
Many custody and pretrial orders require testing on a schedule, or at random, over weeks or months. Order “Ongoing or random testing” and tell us the court’s requirements in the notes. We notify the person each time a test is due and post every result to the same case in your portal.
Detection windows are typical ranges. They vary with the substance, how much and how often it was used, and the person.
